A July 2026 poll told a more complicated story, however: the Republican candidate led by 7.4 points as of July 8, a margin that cuts sharply against both the Cook rating and the district's structural tilt. That gap could reflect a specific candidate dynamic, a late-cycle enthusiasm differential, or simple survey noise in a low-polling district.
